MLG Columbus 2016 major quarter-finals will be held at the Nationwide Arena, as the live show has been extended from two to three days, MLG's Adam Apicella announced via Reddit. Initially, three of the five days of the next major, including groups and quarter-finals, were set to take place at the MLG Arena, closed off to the public. MLG's decision to only show semi-finals and the grand final live at the Nationwide Arena was met with criticism from the community, to which the organization has announced that they are working on a solution.
That came only a few days afterwards, as MLG extended the Nationwide Arena show to Friday, April 1st as well, which will feature the major quarter-finals, making the number of matches shown live from three to seven. It still stands that the group stage will be closed off entirely to "reduce downtime and promote competition experience for players", same as with the previous two majors, DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca and ESL One Cologne. Fans that have already bought tickets for the show will be glad to see that their tickets have been automatically upgraded to a full three days with no additional cost, as MLG's Adam Apicella stated in the announcement. |
